Hyderabad Widow Makes Urgent Plea to Bring Son Back From Saudi Arabia
A Hyderabad widow has made an urgent plea to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) to help bring her 33-year-old son back from Saudi Arabia, saying she has been unable to contact him for the past six months.
Aliya Begum, an elderly widow from Hyderabad, has appealed to External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar for immediate intervention to trace her son Shaik Mohammed, who travelled to Al-Kharj in Saudi Arabia’s Riyadh province for work.
According to Begum, Mohammed was later placed under Huroob by his employer and is facing a SAR 10,500 fine linked to a previous accident case.
Hyderabad widow worried over son’s health
Begum has expressed serious concern over her son’s health and wellbeing. She said Mohammed is a hyper-diabetic patient whose blood sugar levels frequently range between 400 and 500 mg/dL.
The mother said she has not been able to contact Mohammed for around six months and does not know his current whereabouts.

Mother seeks MEA and Embassy intervention
In her letter to the MEA, Begum urged the ministry and the Embassy of India in Riyadh to trace Mohammed and provide him with necessary medical and consular assistance.
She has also requested authorities to address his Huroob status and outstanding fine in accordance with Saudi Arabian procedures.
The mother further appealed to officials to complete the required formalities and facilitate her son’s repatriation to India.
Earlier complaint filed through MADAD portal
According to Begum’s representation, she had previously approached the MEA on January 19, 2026, seeking help in bringing her son home.
She also registered a complaint through the MADAD portal under Grievance ID: SB2RPT898952426.
Begum said that the Indian Embassy had communicated with her regarding exit formalities, but the process has reportedly not been completed so far.
She has now renewed her appeal, asking Indian authorities to intervene and resolve the issues preventing her son’s return.

The issue gained wider attention after Majlis Bachao Tehreek (MBT) leader Amjed Ullah Khan shared Begum’s appeal on social media on Wednesday, July 29.
Khan also posted videos purportedly showing Shaik Mohammed appealing to the Indian government for assistance to return to India.
The family is now hoping that intervention by the MEA and the Indian Embassy in Riyadh will help trace Mohammed, resolve the issues surrounding his Huroob status and fine, and facilitate his safe return to Hyderabad.
