Hyderabad 2BHK Scam Exposed: Cab Driver Dupes 50+ People With Fake Government Housing Orders
A major housing fraud has come to light after Hyderabad police arrested a cab driver for allegedly creating fake allotment orders under the State government’s Double Bedroom (2BHK) Dignity Housing Scheme and cheating more than 50 people.
The accused, identified as Syed Salman (27), a resident of Salala in Barkas, Chandrayangutta, was arrested by the Task Force and Moghalpura police for his alleged involvement in preparing forged government housing documents. Police recovered 52 fake allotment order copies and a mobile phone from him.
The investigation revealed that the accused allegedly targeted people seeking government housing benefits and assured them that he could arrange 2BHK house allotments in exchange for money.
Cab Driver Dupes 50+ People With Fake 2BHK Allotment Orders
Police officials said the cab driver dupes 50+ people with fake housing allotment documents by taking advantage of his previous experience working at MeeSeva centres. The accused allegedly used his knowledge of government procedures to prepare fake documents that appeared to be official.
According to police, Salman claimed that he had contacts with officials at the Collector’s Office and promised victims that he could help them secure houses under the government’s Double Bedroom Housing Scheme.
By gaining their trust, he allegedly collected money from several people and provided them with forged allotment order copies.
Victim Paid Rs 1.5 Lakh After Believing Fake Promise
Police said one of the victims, Asma Sultana, who knew Salman through a school where they had worked, along with her family members, allegedly paid him Rs 1.5 lakh in instalments.
The accused allegedly collected Aadhaar card copies and passport-size photographs from victims, claiming that these documents were needed for processing their housing applications. Later, he reportedly handed over fake allotment papers.
Officials suspect that the accused followed a similar method with several other victims. The cab driver dupes 50+ people with fake government housing documents and allegedly collected lakhs of rupees, which were reportedly used for personal expenses.
Police Investigate Full Extent of Hyderabad 2BHK Scam
Following the arrest, police are investigating the complete extent of the alleged Hyderabad 2BHK scam. Officials are working to identify additional victims and verify the number of people who may have lost money to the accused.
Police are also examining the seized documents and mobile phone to gather more evidence about the alleged fraud network.
Authorities have advised citizens to verify housing-related documents through official government channels and avoid paying money to individuals who promise guaranteed allotments or government benefits.
The case highlights the need for public awareness regarding fake government schemes and document fraud. The Hyderabad police continue their investigation to uncover further details and take necessary action against those involved.
