Telangana CM to Launch Distribution of New Ration Cards on August 15
Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy will officially launch the statewide distribution of new Public Distribution System (PDS) ration cards on August 15, coinciding with India’s 79th Independence Day. The initiative is aimed at ensuring eligible families receive access to subsidised food grains and other welfare benefits under the Public Distribution System.
The announcement was made by N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, who stated that the Chief Minister has approved the programme schedule for the Telangana-wide launch.
State-Level Launch in Sangareddy
The state-level inaugural function will be held in Sangareddy, where Chief Minister Revanth Reddy will formally distribute the first batch of new ration cards to eligible beneficiaries.
Following the launch, the distribution drive will simultaneously take place across all 119 Assembly constituencies in Telangana, ensuring that eligible households in every district receive their new ration cards.
Distribution Timings Across Constituencies
According to the official schedule released by the Telangana government, the constituency-level distribution programme will be conducted from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM on August 15.
Each distribution programme will be coordinated by the concerned Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO), with logistical and administrative support from:
- District Administration
- Civil Supplies Department
- Local Revenue Officials
The government has instructed district authorities to ensure smooth implementation of the programme so that beneficiaries receive their ration cards without inconvenience.
Objective of the New Ration Cards
The issuance of new ration cards is part of the Telangana government’s efforts to strengthen the Public Distribution System and extend welfare benefits to newly eligible families.
A valid ration card enables beneficiaries to access subsidised food grains distributed through fair price shops and also serves as an important document for availing several state government welfare schemes.
The government has been processing applications for new ration cards and verifying beneficiary details over the past several months. The August 15 launch marks the beginning of the formal distribution process across the state.
