Hyderabad Hit-and-Run Case: Father Seeks Death Penalty for Daughter’s Death

The father of a 29-year-old postgraduate medical student who died following a hit-and-run accident in Andhra Pradesh has demanded the death penalty for those responsible for her death.

Venkatesh, the father of Priyanka, broke down while speaking to reporters in Hyderabad and said no other parent should have to experience the pain of losing a daughter.

A postmortem examination was conducted on Monday at Gandhi Government Hospital in Hyderabad on Priyanka’s body.

According to preliminary information, a car allegedly driven by a person under the influence of alcohol hit the motorcycle carrying Priyanka and another postgraduate medical student near a shopping mall.

The car reportedly sped away from the scene following the collision.

Priyanka was initially taken to a hospital in Rajamahendravaram for treatment. She was later shifted to a private hospital in Hyderabad for advanced medical care.

Despite treatment, she died on Sunday afternoon.

Father demands strict punishment

Speaking about his daughter’s death, Venkatesh said Priyanka was his “heart” and expressed his anguish over the loss.

He demanded the death penalty for those responsible for the fatal hit-and-run, saying that no other father should have to endure the same suffering.

The demand comes as the investigation into the accident and the circumstances surrounding Priyanka’s death continues.

Priyanka moved to Kurnool for daughters’ education

Venkatesh is a native of Gadwal mandal in Telangana.

He said he had moved to nearby Kurnool in Andhra Pradesh to support his daughters’ education.

Priyanka’s death has left her family devastated, with relatives and supporters gathering to pay their respects.

Her body was taken to the family’s native village of Eklaspur in Gadwal district following the postmortem examination.

Support pours in for bereaved family

Srihari said the Telangana government would provide assistance to the bereaved family.

Sampath Kumar accompanied Priyanka’s parents when her body was taken to Eklaspur, Congress sources said.

Andhra Pradesh CM announces Rs 20 lakh assistance

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu expressed grief over Priyanka’s death and announced an ex-gratia of Rs 20 lakh for her family.

The Chief Minister said the accused had been arrested and remanded in judicial custody.

Naidu also said clear instructions had been issued to police officials to ensure stringent action against those responsible.

Investigation into Rajamahendravaram hit-and-run

The Rajamahendravaram hit-and-run case has triggered demands for strict punishment for the accused.

Priyanka’s family is now awaiting further legal proceedings as authorities investigate the circumstances of the crash.

The case has also renewed concerns over drunk and rash driving and the dangers posed to motorists and other road users.

For Priyanka’s family, however, the immediate focus remains on seeking justice for the postgraduate medical student whose life was cut short in the crash.
