Father and son died after coming into contact with a live electric wire while operating a water motor in their agricultural field

A father and his son were electrocuted to death while watering their paddy crop in Jayashankar Bhupalpally district on Thursday, August 13.

The deceased were identified as K Bapu, 45, and his son Manoj, 23, residents of Kataram mandal, according to a report by The Times of India.

Father electrocuted while operating water motor

According to the report, the family had laid underground electrical wires in their agricultural field to connect the water motor used for irrigation.

Kataram Circle Inspector E Nagarjuna Rao said Bapu switched on the motor and was diverting water when he came into contact with a live electric wire.

Seeing his father in distress, Manoj reportedly tried to rescue him but also came into contact with the live wire and was electrocuted.

Neighbouring farmers alert police

Neighbouring farmers who noticed the incident informed the police.

The incident has highlighted the risks associated with exposed or damaged electrical wiring in agricultural fields, particularly during irrigation work.

Police have taken up an investigation into the incident.
