CJP Removes Spokesperson Vijeta Over ‘Insensitive’ Remarks During NEET Protest Row
CJP removes spokesperson Vijeta after his controversial remarks and a viral video during the ongoing NEET protest triggered widespread criticism. The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) on Tuesday, July 21, announced that it had removed Vijeta Dahiya from his role as one of the movement’s three official spokespersons, calling his conduct “insensitive” and “unacceptable.”
The decision came after a video surfaced showing Vijeta Dahiya eating a burger while students and activists continued protests at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar over the alleged NEET paper leak.
CJP Removes Spokesperson Vijeta After Viral Burger Video
The CJP removes spokesperson Vijeta decision followed intense backlash on social media, where several users questioned his absence from protest sites and criticized him for eating a burger while some protesters were reportedly on a hunger strike.
In a statement posted on X, CJP said the organisation strongly condemned Vijeta Dahiya’s actions.
“We strongly condemn the deeply insensitive actions of our spokesperson Vijeta Dahiya, whose videos surfaced while peaceful protestors and our team were facing brutal police violence.”
The organisation added that such behaviour reflected poor judgment and did not align with the movement’s principles.
Vijeta Says He Is Not Accountable to the Public
Addressing the criticism in the viral video, Vijeta questioned why people were upset over him eating a burger.
He stated that he was hungry and therefore chose to eat. He also argued that he should not be held personally accountable because no one had elected him as the organisation’s spokesperson.
Vijeta further said that the government—not him—should be held accountable for the NEET paper leak issue. He added that he joined the movement voluntarily and had no intention of entering politics simply to satisfy public expectations.
CJP Removes Spokesperson Vijeta From All Official Duties
Following the controversy, CJP removes spokesperson Vijeta from all official responsibilities associated with the organisation.
The party confirmed that he had been relieved of every official duty with immediate effect.
Before his removal, Vijeta Dahiya represented CJP alongside investigative journalist Saurav Das and former management consultant Ashutosh Ranka during the organisation’s first official press conference.
Students Continue NEET Protest
The protest at Jantar Mantar continues, with hundreds of students and youth activists demanding action over the alleged NEET paper leak. Protesters are also calling for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
The demonstrations have attracted nationwide attention, with several student groups extending support to the movement.
