First time in the history of Telangana, a Muslim woman has been appointed as an IPS officer.
Sheikh Saleema has been included in the list of non-cadre IPS promotions released by the Central Government on Tuesday (December 21,2021). Saleema Kakatiya from Komatlagudem, Chintakani Mandal, Khammam district, has an Emmy in Biotechnology from the University.
Saleema’s father Lal Bahadur retired after serving as SI in Khammam district. Saleema was selected as DSP in Group-1 in 2007. Saleema got her first posting in Kagaznagar, Adilabad district, has been working as PTC Vice Principal and Additional Commissioner (Admin) in Madhapur. She is currently serving as DCP in Rachakonda Commissionerate. Everyone in Salima’s family is educated. With this, Saleema naturally wanted to study. As her father was a policeman, Salima went on to study with the aim of becoming a top police officer.
Saleema has two younger sisters and a younger brother. Salima’s sister Zarina recently passed the Group-1 exam in the AP and was selected for the Mains. her sister will also become a government employee if she qualifies for the interview. Saleema’s younger sister Munni is also employed. Working as Khairatabad MVI. her younger brother Qasim is a doctor at the Care Hospital in Hyderabad. Saleema’s husband is also in the software industry. Thus, the entire Saleema family is highly educated.
