 Amid Heavy Rain: IMD Issues Yellow Alert for Hyderabad and Several Telangana Districts

Hyderabad, September 11

Several parts of Hyderabad are set to receive scattered heavy rainfall and severe thunderstorms over the next 1–2 hours, according to local weather updates.

Weather enthusiast T. Balaji (@balaji25_t) warned that localities including Hayathnagar, Vanasthalipuram, Kuntloor, LB Nagar, Nagole, Boduppal, Nacharam, Mallapur, Kapra, Moula Ali, ECIL, and Nagaram could witness up to 100 mm of rainfall by late afternoon. He also cautioned residents about severe thunderstorms in these areas.

IMD Hyderabad Forecast

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) Hyderabad earlier issued a yellow alert for the city, forecasting moderate to heavy rain or thundershowers with gusty winds for September 11 and 12. The IMD has also predicted continuous heavy rainfall across Telangana for the next five days.

Other Telangana Districts to be Affected

  • Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Jangaon, Rangareddy, and Siddipet: Likely to see thunderstorms in the coming hours.

  • Adilabad, Asifabad, Mancherial, Rajanna Sircilla, Suryapet, Mahabubabad, and Khammam: Expected to be hit with scattered heavy rains.

Public Advisory

Authorities have urged residents to:

  • Avoid unnecessary travel during peak rainfall.

  • Stay indoors in case of severe thunderstorms.

  • Follow traffic and safety advisories issued by the police and GHMC.
