Hyderabad: ‘I Love Mohammed’ Banner on Chandrayangutta Flyover Sparks Row, Police Step Up Vigil
A video has gone viral on social media showing a group of youngsters claiming to have erected an ‘I Love Mohammed’ banner on the Chandrayangutta flyover on Wednesday.
The video triggered sharp reactions from netizens, with some raising objections online. In the footage, the youngsters are also seen challenging Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to have the banner removed.
Following the circulation of the video, senior police officials and intelligence teams have been instructed to maintain heightened vigilance in Hyderabad’s Old City to prevent any untoward incidents. However, police officials confirmed that no formal complaint has been received so far.

Nationwide protests linked to ‘I Love Muhammad’ banners
This incident comes against the backdrop of nationwide protests connected to ‘I Love Muhammad’ banners. According to an Association for Protection of Civil Rights (APCR) report, at least 21 FIRs have been registered across the country, naming 1,324 Muslims and leading to 38 arrests.

Uttar Pradesh reported 16 FIRs with more than 1,000 accused, including Unnao (85 accused, 5 arrested), Kaushambi (24 accused, 3 arrested) and Baghpat (150 accused, 2 arrested).

Uttarakhand booked 401 people, leading to 7 arrests.

Gujarat reported 88 accused with 17 arrests, while Baroda saw 1 arrest.
