GHMC Launches Digital Asset Tracking System

Hyderabad, 13 September

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has rolled out an advanced digitalisation initiative aimed at streamlining asset management and improving operational efficiency. The system was officially launched on Friday, September 12.

Real-Time Digital Monitoring

Under the new framework, GHMC will digitally track all purchases and allocations of electronic peripherals, including CPUs, monitors, cables, laptops, mobile phones, and tablets. The IT department, which distributes devices to officials based on their roles, will now manage the process through the centralised system.

Reason Behind the Move

A recent review revealed that records of previously issued electronic equipment were incomplete, raising concerns over possible misuse. Officials highlighted the need for a transparent system to monitor, maintain, and replace assets efficiently.

Benefits of the New Platform

The digitised inventory management system will provide:

  • Real-time tracking of issued devices

  • Detailed reporting for accountability

  • Alerts for timely maintenance and replacements

  • Prevention of misuse or unaccounted assets

Authorities believe the system will significantly enhance transparency, reduce wastage, and ensure optimal use of public resources.
