Hyderabad police seize illegally stored firecrackers worth Rs 18 lakh

Hyderabad Police Seize Firecrackers Worth Rs 18 Lakh, Issue License Advisory Ahead of Deepavali

In a crackdown on illegal firecracker storage, Hyderabad police, along with Afzalgunj police, raided a godown in Siddamber Bazar, Osman Gunj Road on Friday, October 10. They seized 100 boxes of firecrackers valued at approximately Rs 18 lakh and arrested Shyam Kumar Sugandhi (55) for storing explosives without a valid license in a residential area.

Authorities have reminded individuals who wish to sell firecrackers temporarily for Deepavali to obtain a license under the Explosives Act, 1884 and Rules, 1983. Applications for Form AE-5 can be submitted manually to the deputy commissioners of the respective zones in the Hyderabad commissionerate from October 9 to October 15.

Applicants are required to submit the following along with the application:

  • NOC from the Divisional Fire Officer.

  • Land permission from GHMC authorities (for government land).

  • NOC/ agreement from land/premises owner (for private land).

  • Copy of previous year’s license, if any (optional).

  • NOC from neighbors (for single shops in a pucca structure).

  • Site plan of the shop (blueprint copy).

  • Original license fee receipt of Rs 600, paid at the State Bank of India, Treasury Branch, Gunfoundry, Hyderabad.

Police have emphasized that no firecracker sales should occur without proper authorization, warning that violations will attract strict action.
