In a major breakthrough against drug trafficking, the Khammam police seized over 100 kg of ganja along with illegal weapons during a special operation. The bust exposed a well-organized smuggling network that has been active across Telangana and neighboring states.
According to police officials, the contraband was being transported in a vehicle when it was intercepted. The accused were arrested on the spot, and weapons recovered from their possession raised serious concerns about the growing nexus between drug smuggling and organized crime.
Police revealed that Khammam has become a key hub for ganja smuggling, with several major consignments being caught in recent years. Just last year, over 2,200 kg of ganja was seized in the district alone, while statewide seizures crossed 6,000 kg.
Authorities said the latest crackdown is part of Telangana’s intensified efforts to curb narcotics trade. Multiple cases have been registered, and further investigation is underway to identify the larger network and its interstate connections.
