SFI Supports College Closures in Telangana Over Pending Fees

Hyderabad, 13 September

The Students Federation of India (SFI), Telangana committee, has expressed support for private professional and degree colleges that plan to indefinitely close institutions over pending fee reimbursement dues, effective September 15 and 16, respectively.

In a statement on Saturday, SFI Telangana president S. Rajinikanth and secretary T. Nagaraju criticised the Congress government for failing to honour its pre-election assurances to release fee dues and establish a transparent reimbursement system.

“After assuming office, the government completely ignored the issue,” they said, adding, “Worse yet, there are signs of a conspiracy to dismantle this welfare scheme altogether.”

SFI highlighted that students were being forced to approach courts to obtain their certificates, as college managements were withholding them due to unpaid fee reimbursements, while the government remained inactive.

“Though the Congress government claims to be a people’s government, its complete lack of response to students’ issues is nothing short of outrageous,” the statement said.
