Hyderabad, 11 September

In a first, government degree colleges and university constituent colleges in Telangana will admit students through spot admissions this academic year. The Telangana Council of Higher Education (TGCHE) announced the spot admission schedule on Thursday, citing nearly 2.08 lakh vacant seats across colleges.

According to the schedule, details of 2,08,895 vacant seats will be published on the official DOST portal – https://dost.cgg.gov.in – on Friday. Spot admissions for all government degree colleges and private aided colleges will be conducted on September 15 and 16. Students must pay a registration fee of Rs 425 to participate.

Prof. V. Balakista Reddy, Chairman of TGCHE, said:

“As per requests from colleges, students, and student organisations, we have decided to hold spot admissions in government degree colleges for the first time. These institutions are required to follow GO 15, which mandates reservation for local candidates along with other reservation rules.”

Following these admissions, institutions must upload student details on September 17. In the next phase, both government and private unaided degree colleges will conduct spot admissions on September 18 and 19, with details of admitted students to be uploaded on September 20.

While non-local candidates are also eligible to apply, preference will be given to local candidates as per reservation rules.
