World Leaders Welcome First Phase of Israel-Hamas Peace Deal, Urge Swift Implementation
World leaders on Thursday expressed hope and urged Israel and Hamas to honor their commitments after U.S. President Donald Trump announced the first phase of a peace deal aimed at ending the two-year conflict in Gaza.
Under the agreement, Hamas will release all 20 living hostages in the coming days in exchange for Palestinian prisoners, while the Israeli military will begin withdrawing from most of Gaza.
President Trump wrote on social media: “This means that ALL of the Hostages will be released very soon, and Israel will withdraw their Troops to an agreed-upon line as the first steps toward a Strong, Durable, and Everlasting Peace.” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu echoed the sentiment, stating: “With God’s help we will bring them all home.”
