School Holiday Declared as Heavy Rains Create Flood conditions across several districts of North Telangana after incessant rainfall triggered flooding, submerged roads, stranded villages, and disrupted transportation. Authorities ordered the closure of schools in most districts as a precaution while urging residents to remain alert amid continuing heavy rainfall.
The downpour severely affected Kumram Bheem Asifabad, Adilabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Peddapalli, Jagtial, Karimnagar, Nizamabad, and Kamareddy, with overflowing streams and rivers creating flood-like conditions in many low-lying areas.

Villages Cut Off After Streams Overflow
Heavy rainfall caused streams and rivulets to overflow in Kumram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, and Adilabad districts.
Floodwaters breached roads and culverts, isolating villages in Chintalamanepalli, Dahegaon, Penchikalpet, Bejjur, Koutala, and Sirpur (T) mandals. Around 10 villages in Bejjur mandal alone were left stranded as access roads remained submerged.
The continuous rain also disrupted normal life, with several interior villages facing transportation difficulties.
Emergency Control Room Set Up in Kumram Bheem Asifabad
Kumram Bheem Asifabad District Collector K. Haritha announced the establishment of a district-level emergency control room to provide immediate assistance to people affected by floods.
Residents facing emergencies have been asked to contact the control room at 85008 44365. The Collector urged people to avoid unnecessary travel, stay away from flooded streams and roads, and follow official advisories until the weather improves.
Irrigation Projects Receive Massive Inflows
The heavy rainfall significantly increased inflows into irrigation reservoirs across North Telangana.
The Kaddam Narayana Reddy Project in Kadem Mandal recorded inflows of 77,442 cusecs, with the water level rising to 693 feet against its full reservoir level of 700 feet (3.495 TMC).
Officials opened six out of 18 gates to release surplus water and alerted residents living downstream to remain cautious as water discharge continued.
Coal Mining Operations Suspended Due to Heavy Rain

Open-cast mining operations of the Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) in Srirampur, Mandamarri, Goleti, and Ramagundam were temporarily suspended after heavy rainwater inundated mining pits.
Coal excavation and overburden removal came to a halt as heavy machinery remained stranded in waterlogged project areas.
Rainfall Exceeds Normal Levels in Several Districts
According to the Telangana Development Planning Society (TDPS), Kumram Bheem Asifabad recorded an average rainfall of 121.4 mm, with Bejjur Mandal receiving the highest rainfall of 183.5 mm, followed by Penchikalpet at 165.4 mm.
The district has received 550 mm of rainfall between June 1 and July 30, exceeding the seasonal normal of 536.2 mm by 3 percent.
Mancherial district recorded an average rainfall of 102.8 mm, while Mandamarri received 161 mm, the highest in the district. Total monsoon rainfall in Mancherial reached 517 mm, which is 11 percent above normal.
Meanwhile, Adilabad recorded 64.6 mm, Nirmal received 54.3 mm, Peddapalli recorded 81.7 mm, Jagtial measured 77 mm, Karimnagar received 45.3 mm, Nizamabad recorded 29.8 mm, and Kamareddy registered 25.5 mm of rainfall.
Authorities Urge Residents to Remain Vigilant
Officials have advised people living in flood-prone areas to stay indoors unless necessary and avoid crossing overflowing streams or waterlogged roads.
