Telangana Family Register Certificate Applications Pile Up Despite 2-Day Deadline
Telangana Family Register Certificate Applications are piling up across the state despite a government order requiring the certificates to be issued within two working days. Thousands of applicants are still waiting for their certificates, forcing many to make repeated visits to MeeSeva centres.
According to official figures, more than 50,000 Telangana Family Register Certificate Applications had been submitted through the MeeSeva portal across the state till Wednesday, July 29. Several applicants who applied on July 27, the day the new system came into effect, are yet to receive their certificates.
Telangana Family Register Certificate Applications Face Delays
The delay has caused inconvenience for citizens who expected quick processing after the Telangana government introduced the Family Register Certificate (FRC) system.
Although the application process is completely digital, many applicants say their requests continue to show as pending even after the prescribed processing period has expired.
As a result, several people have been forced to revisit MeeSeva centres multiple times to check the status of their certificates.
Government Ordered Certificates Within Two Working Days
Under Government Order (GO) No. 172, issued on July 25, the Telangana government directed that every Family Register Certificate should be issued within two working days of receiving the application.
The order also instructed Tahsildars to ensure that all applications are verified and disposed of within the stipulated timeline to avoid inconvenience to the public.
However, despite these clear guidelines, many Tahsildars have reportedly not completed the verification process within the required period, leading to a growing backlog of Telangana Family Register Certificate Applications.
How the Family Register Certificate Is Issued
The Telangana government created the Telangana Family Register using data from the Food Security Card (Ration Card) database maintained by the Commissioner of Civil Supplies.
Citizens can apply for a Family Register Certificate through any MeeSeva centre by paying the prescribed fee.
Once the application is submitted, it is automatically forwarded to the concerned Tahsildar through the online portal. The Tahsildar verifies the applicant’s details with the ration card database and, if the information matches, approves the certificate using a digital signature.
Only after this verification is completed is the certificate made available to the applicant.
Applicants Continue Waiting for Approval
Despite the streamlined digital process, many Telangana Family Register Certificate Applications remain pending days after submission.
Applicants who expected to receive their certificates within the promised two-day period are still waiting for approval, creating frustration among citizens who require the document for various official purposes.
The increasing number of pending applications has also resulted in higher footfall at MeeSeva centres, with applicants repeatedly checking on the status of their requests.
Authorities Expected to Speed Up Processing
With over 50,000 Telangana Family Register Certificate Applications already submitted, officials are expected to accelerate the verification process to clear the backlog and comply with the government’s two-day deadline.
The Family Register Certificate is intended to simplify access to official family records through a centralized digital system. However, the current delays have raised concerns about implementation, especially during the initial rollout of the new service.
Applicants are now hoping that pending certificates will be processed quickly so that the government can meet the timeline promised under GO 172.
