Opposition parties in Telangana marked the 80th Independence Day on Saturday, August 15, with flag-hoisting ceremonies and patriotic programmes held across Hyderabad.

Leaders of the AIMIM, BRS and BJP participated in separate events across the city, with party workers and supporters joining the celebrations.

Asaduddin Owaisi hoists Tricolour at Madina Circle

All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM) president Asaduddin Owaisi hoisted the national flag at Madina Circle near Charminar.

The flag-hoisting ceremony was followed by the national anthem, with party members and supporters participating in the Independence Day celebrations.

KTR hoists national flag at Telangana Bhavan

Meanwhile, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) hoisted the Tricolour at the party headquarters, Telangana Bhavan, in Banjara Hills.

Addressing party members after the ceremony, KTR criticised Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and questioned his vision for the state’s development.

“A person who opposed the Telangana movement has become the CM. What vision could he possibly have for Telangana’s development? He never once raised the slogan ‘Jai Telangana,’” KTR said.

The former Telangana minister also criticised the Congress government over the Kalyana Lakshmi scheme, referring to the Telangana High Court’s stay on the scheme.

“Does this government not even have the time to file a counter-affidavit regarding the Kalyana Lakshmi scheme?” he asked.

KTR targets Revanth Reddy over 18-hour work claim

KTR also took a dig at Chief Minister Revanth Reddy over his claim of working 18 hours a day.

He questioned whether the Chief Minister was working such long hours to elevate the “Anumula brothers” to the level of industrialist Gautam Adani.

The Sircilla MLA also called upon BRS cadre to intensify activities at the grassroots level and work towards rebuilding the party’s support base.

Telangana BJP observes Independence Day

The Telangana Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) also organised Independence Day celebrations in the state.

The programme was held under the leadership of MLC AVN Reddy, who led the party’s ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign.

Speaking on the occasion, AVN Reddy said the campaign was launched to ensure that the struggles and sacrifices of freedom fighters, leaders and youth during India’s freedom movement are known to the present generation.

“The Har Ghar Tiranga campaign was launched with the noble resolve that the struggles and sacrifices of the leaders and youth of those days in the freedom movement should be clearly known to today’s generation and students,” he said.

The Independence Day celebrations saw leaders and party workers across Telangana participating in flag-hoisting programmes and paying tribute to those who fought for India’s freedom.
