Hyderabad Rains: DGP CV Anand Directs Police to Stay on High Alert Amid Heavy Downpour. With heavy rains continuing to impact Hyderabad and surrounding districts, Telangana Director General of Police (DGP) CV Anand on Saturday directed police personnel to remain on high alert and ensure a swift response to rain-related emergencies.
The DGP visited several rain-affected areas, including Malkampet Cheruvu, to assess the ground situation and review measures being taken to address waterlogging, traffic congestion, and public safety concerns.
DGP Reviews Rain-Affected Areas
Hyderabad Rains; During his visit, CV Anand held discussions with senior police officials and the Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) Commissioner, G. Sarijana, regarding the challenges posed by the ongoing monsoon rains.
He instructed officials to take immediate steps to prevent water stagnation on roads, clear traffic bottlenecks, and strengthen coordination with civic authorities to restore normalcy in affected areas as quickly as possible.
The DGP emphasized the importance of continuous monitoring of vulnerable locations and directed field officers to remain vigilant as weather conditions continue to pose risks to public safety.
Police Asked to Remain Prepared for Emergencies
In view of the persistent rainfall, CV Anand ordered police personnel across Hyderabad and other rain-affected districts of Telangana to stay on high alert and be prepared to respond promptly to emergencies, including flooding, road accidents, power-related incidents, and rescue operations.
Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and coordinating with disaster response teams and municipal agencies to mitigate the impact of heavy rainfall.
Father and Daughter Die Due to Electrocution
Amid the ongoing rains, a tragic incident was reported in which a father and his daughter lost their lives after allegedly coming into contact with a live electric wire that had been carelessly left hanging.
The incident has raised concerns about public safety during the monsoon season, particularly regarding exposed electrical infrastructure in waterlogged areas.
Officials have urged citizens to remain cautious and avoid contact with electric poles, wires, and flooded locations where electrical hazards may be present.
Public Advised to Follow Safety Guidelines
The Telangana DGP appealed to residents to exercise caution while travelling and to strictly follow advisories issued by police, civic bodies, and disaster management authorities.
Citizens have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel during heavy rainfall, stay away from flooded areas, and immediately report emergencies to the relevant authorities.
