Hyderabad ATM Heist: Driver Allegedly Escapes With Rs 17 Lakh, Two Sons Suspected
Police suspect that a cash van driver and his two sons were involved in the theft of Rs 17 lakh from an ATM cash replenishment vehicle in Hyderabad‘s IS Sadan area. Authorities have launched an extensive manhunt and formed five special teams to trace the accused and recover the stolen cash.
The incident took place on Tuesday when a cash van belonging to a private security company was carrying money to refill ATMs across the city.
Theft Planned Months in Advance, Suspect Police
According to police sources, the main accused, identified as Srinivas, had allegedly planned the theft well in advance. A native of Jagtial district, Srinivas had joined the cash management company as a driver only a few months ago.
Investigators believe he was waiting for the right opportunity to execute the theft and had involved his two sons in the operation.
As part of the alleged plan, Srinivas instructed his elder son to follow the cash van on a motorcycle throughout the cash replenishment route.

Police said the cash van team had successfully replenished cash at six ATM centres before reaching an SBI ATM at IS Sadan.
While cash custodians Suresh and Papayya, along with gunman Nabi Saab, entered the ATM kiosk to load cash into the machine, Srinivas remained inside the vehicle.
The van reportedly contained two cash bags—one carrying Rs 7 lakh and another containing Rs 17 lakh.
Taking advantage of the situation, Srinivas allegedly grabbed the bag containing Rs 17 lakh, exited the vehicle, and fled on a motorcycle waiting nearby, driven by his elder son.
When the ATM staff returned to the vehicle, they discovered that both the driver and the cash bag were missing and immediately informed the police.
CCTV Footage Reveals Escape Route
Based on a complaint filed by custodian Suresh, police registered a case and launched an investigation.
During the probe, investigators examined CCTV footage from various locations and reportedly confirmed that Srinivas escaped with his elder son.
The duo is believed to have travelled towards Uppuguda, where they met Srinivas’s younger son. Police suspect that a portion of the stolen money may have been handed over to the younger son before he left the area.
According to investigators, Srinivas and his elder son later hired a private cab and fled towards the Outer Ring Road near Shamshabad in an attempt to evade capture.
Five Special Teams Formed
To speed up the investigation, Hyderabad police have formed five special teams to track down the accused and recover the stolen money.
Officers are analysing CCTV footage, mobile phone records, and other technical evidence to determine the suspects’ movements and possible hiding locations.

The ATM cash van belonged to Cleared Security Services Private Limited and was carrying approximately Rs 30 lakh for ATM replenishment across Hyderabad.
