An Air India flight operating from Phuket, Thailand, to New Delhi encountered a sudden bout of mid-air turbulence on Tuesday, August 4, leaving 12 people injured, including passengers and cabin crew members. Despite the incident, the aircraft landed safely at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport, and all passengers and crew disembarked without further complications. According to Air India, flight AI2379 experienced a brief turbulence-related event during its cruise phase, which resulted in a momentary change in altitude. The airline emphasized that the flight remained under control throughout the incident and completed its journey safely.

10 Passengers and 2 Cabin Crew Members Injured

In an official statement, the airline said:

“The aircraft landed safely in Delhi, and all passengers and crew have safely disembarked.”

The airline further stated that a small number of injured passengers and crew members were taken to a medical facility at the airport for precautionary medical assessment and treatment.

“A small number of passengers and crew members with minor injuries requiring medical assessment have been taken to a medical facility at the airport for precautionary examination and care by Air India’s airport team and medical personnel,” the airline added.

Flight Landed Safely in Delhi

The aircraft involved in the incident was an Airbus A320 operating as AI2379 from Phuket to Delhi.

Data available on the flight-tracking platform Flightradar24 indicated that the aircraft experienced a temporary loss of altitude before its arrival in Delhi, consistent with the turbulence event reported by the airline. The airline stated:
