A biker had a narrow escape after a tin shed fell on him in Hyderabad’s Tolichowki area on Saturday, June 13, amid strong winds that have battered the city since the onset of the monsoon.
The incident took place in Paramount Colony, where a large tin shed reportedly detached from a penthouse and crashed onto the road, striking a biker passing through the area.
Fortunately, the rider survived the accident and escaped with minor injuries.
Incident Captured on CCTV
The shocking incident was captured on a nearby CCTV camera. Footage shows the tin shed suddenly collapsing onto the road before hitting the biker, causing him to fall to the ground.
Residents and passersby immediately rushed to the scene and helped rescue the injured rider.
The video has since circulated widely on social media, raising concerns about public safety during adverse weather conditions.
Biker Suffers Head Injury
The injured biker has been identified as Idris. According to police officials, he sustained a head injury in the incident and was shifted to CARE Hospital in Banjara Hills for treatment.
After receiving medical attention, he was discharged later the same day.
Officials said his injuries were not life-threatening.
Owner Booked for Negligence
An official from the Tolichowki Police Station said preliminary investigation revealed that the shed had fallen from a penthouse due to strong winds.
Police have booked the owner of the property for negligence and initiated further investigation into the incident.
Authorities are also examining whether adequate safety measures had been taken to secure the structure before the monsoon season.
Monsoon-Related Incidents Raise Safety Concerns
The incident comes at a time when Hyderabad is witnessing multiple weather-related accidents due to heavy rains and strong winds.
In recent days, several parts of the city have reported waterlogging, uprooted trees, collapsed structures, and snapped power lines.
Two separate electrocution incidents reportedly claimed four lives, while a falling tree in Meerpet led to the death of a 75-year-old woman.
