Gold Rates in Hyderabad Hit Three-Month High at Rs 1.60 Lakh per 10 Grams

Gold prices in Hyderabad rise sharply as global uncertainty, US interest-rate expectations, bond yields and dollar movements influence investor demand for the safe-haven asset.

Gold rates in Hyderabad and several other Indian cities touched a three-month high on Friday, August 21, with prices rising amid stronger global demand for the precious metal.

In Hyderabad, the price of 24-carat gold reached Rs 1,60,480 per 10 grams, while 22-carat gold was priced at Rs 1,47,100 per 10 grams.

The latest rise comes as international gold prices remain elevated, with investors turning to bullion as a safe-haven asset amid economic and geopolitical uncertainties.

Why are gold rates rising in Hyderabad?

Gold prices in Hyderabad are influenced heavily by international markets because India imports most of its gold.

Global gold prices have been supported by increased investor demand as concerns over economic conditions encourage investors to seek assets traditionally viewed as a store of value.

Movements in US interest rates, bond yields and the US dollar are also important factors influencing international gold prices and, consequently, domestic rates.

When expectations around interest rates and bond yields change, investor demand for non-yielding assets such as gold can also shift.

Gold rates reach three-month high

The latest gold prices in Hyderabad are higher than the levels recorded earlier this year.

On May 25, 2026, 10 grams of 24-carat gold was priced at Rs 1,59,380, while 22-carat gold stood at Rs 1,46,100 per 10 grams.

Gold prices subsequently declined, reaching a low of Rs 1,40,780 for 24-carat gold and Rs 1,29,050 for 22-carat gold per 10 grams on July 1.

The latest prices therefore represent a significant recovery from the July lows.

Gold futures rise on MCX

Gold prices also gained in the futures market on Friday.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), the gold contract for October delivery rose by Rs 1,432, or 0.9 per cent, to Rs 1,60,857 per 10 grams.

The contract recorded a business turnover of 2,542 lots.

Market analysts attributed the increase partly to fresh positions created by market participants amid firm spot demand.

Gold prices rise in international markets

International gold futures also recorded gains.

Gold futures rose 0.98 per cent to USD 4,561.01 per ounce in New York.

The movement in international gold prices remains an important factor for domestic markets, including Hyderabad, given India’s dependence on imported bullion.

What will happen to gold rates in Hyderabad?

The future direction of gold rates in Hyderabad will depend on several factors, including global economic uncertainty, US monetary policy, bond yields, currency movements and upcoming economic data.

Any major changes in global investor sentiment could influence gold prices in international markets and subsequently affect rates in India.

For buyers, however, retail gold prices can vary between jewellers depending on factors such as making charges, GST and other applicable costs. The quoted market rate should therefore not be treated as the final price of jewellery.
