HMWSSB Fines Two Consumers for Illegal Motor Use, Water Wastage in Hyderabad
The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) on Monday, September 21, imposed fines on two consumers in the city for using an unauthorised motor and wasting drinking water.
The action was taken during surprise inspections conducted in areas under the Saroornagar Circle limits in the Malkajgiri zone.
Consumer fined Rs 5,000 for using illegal motor
HMWSSB Executive Director of the Malkajgiri zone, Pankaja, conducted inspections and identified a consumer in SK Nagar, Dilsukhnagar, using an unauthorised motor. HMWSSB Fines Two Consumers for Illegal Motor Use, Water Wastage in Hyderabad
The consumer was fined Rs 5,000 for the violation.
HMWSSB officials have been instructed to monitor the unauthorised use of motors, particularly during water supply hours, and take action according to the applicable regulations.
Rs 1,000 fine imposed for wasting water
In Alkapuri Yadav Nagar, another consumer was fined Rs 1,000 for wasting water while cleaning the floor.
During the inspection, Pankaja also reviewed water connections being used for construction and commercial purposes.
A pipeline leak was identified in Yadav Nagar Colony, following which officials were directed to carry out immediate repairs to prevent further water loss.
HMWSSB inspects frequent water tanker users
The HMWSSB official also inspected the homes of consumers who frequently book water tankers.
Officials identified several issues, including low borewell water availability, inadequate water connection capacity and poor maintenance of soak pits.

Officials told to conduct regular inspections
Pankaja directed managers to conduct regular inspections during water supply hours and take action against violations.
She said fines should be imposed according to regulations in cases involving unauthorised motor use and wastage of drinking water.
The inspections are part of efforts by HMWSSB to curb water wastage and ensure more efficient use of the city’s drinking water supply.
