HMWSSB Seizes 12 Illegal Water Motors in Kukatpally During Vigilance Inspection
The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) seized 12 illegally installed water motors during a vigilance inspection at Vivekananda Nagar Colony in Kukatpally.
The inspection was conducted between 8 am and 10 am in Vivekananda Nagar Colony, located in Gayatri Nagar Ward, Division-22, under the Kukatpally zone. Vigilance officials identified motors fitted to drinking water pipelines to draw water illegally and removed them.
Illegal Motors Affect Water Supply Pressure
According to the Water Board, the use of unauthorised motors directly connected to drinking water pipelines can affect the distribution system. Such motors may reduce water pressure and prevent other consumers from receiving an adequate supply.
The removal of the 12 motors was part of the board’s efforts to prevent unauthorised water extraction and ensure a fairer distribution of drinking water among residents.
HMWSSB Warns of Further Inspections
The Water Board stated that vigilance inspections will continue to identify and curb the use of illegal water motors.
It also warned that action would be taken against those found violating the rules.
Residents are advised to avoid installing unauthorised motors on public drinking water pipelines, as doing so can affect water supply to neighbouring households.
