Hyderabad Car Crash: 17-Year-Old Takes Rented Car, Injures Two in Madhura Nagar
A Hyderabad car crash involving a 17-year-old boy left two men seriously injured after the teenager allegedly drove a rented car without permission and lost control of the vehicle in Karmika Nagar, Madhura Nagar, on Sunday, August 2.
The shocking incident, which was captured on CCTV, has gone viral on social media, showing the speeding car crashing into two men standing beside their scooter before hitting several parked two-wheelers.
Teen Allegedly Took Rented Car Left Unattended
According to Madhura Nagar Sub-Inspector Sushama, preliminary investigation revealed that the people who had rented the white car had briefly stepped out to use a washroom, leaving the vehicle with the keys inside.
Taking advantage of the situation, the 17-year-old allegedly entered the vehicle and attempted to drive it despite having no authority to do so.
However, within moments, he reportedly lost control after accidentally pressing the accelerator, leading to the Hyderabad car crash.
CCTV Captures the Moment of Impact
A CCTV video of the incident shows two men parking their red scooter along the roadside when the speeding white car suddenly rams into them head-on.
One of the victims was trapped underneath the vehicle, while the other narrowly escaped being crushed. The car also collided with several parked motorcycles before coming to a stop.
Passersby immediately rushed to the spot and worked together to lift the vehicle, allowing the trapped man to be rescued.
The dramatic rescue has drawn widespread attention after the video surfaced online.
Two Brothers Hospitalised
Police identified the injured victims as:
- Rajkumar (60) – Critically injured and admitted to MagnAid Hospital.
- Prabhakar (55) – Sustained a leg fracture and is undergoing treatment at Star Hospital.
Doctors are monitoring Rajkumar’s condition, while Prabhakar is reported to be stable.
Teen Taken Into Police Custody
Following the Hyderabad car crash, local residents gathered at the accident site and allegedly assaulted the teenager before police intervened.
The minor has since been taken into police custody, and a case has been registered. Police are investigating all aspects of the incident, including the circumstances under which the rented vehicle was left unattended with the keys inside.
Officials are also examining whether any negligence occurred on the part of those who rented the car.
Police Continue Investigation
The incident has raised concerns about leaving vehicles unattended with keys inside, especially in public places. Police have urged vehicle users to take necessary precautions to prevent unauthorized access that could lead to accidents.
