Hyderabad Traffic Police Announce Diversions for Bonalu Processions on August 8–10
The Hyderabad Traffic Police have announced extensive traffic diversions and parking arrangements across several parts of the city in view of Bonalu celebrations and processions from August 8 to 10.
Traffic restrictions will affect the Old City, Karwan, Amberpet and Chilkalguda areas, with several major roads and junctions expected to experience diversions and closures during the processions.
Commuters have been advised to plan their journeys in advance and use alternate routes to avoid delays.
Old City Traffic Diversions for Bonalu
In the Old City, major traffic restrictions will be imposed from 6 am on August 9 until the conclusion of the procession, and from 9 am on August 10 until the celebrations conclude.
The road connecting Madina X Roads to Engine Bowli through Gulzar House, Charminar, Himmatpura, Nagulchinta and Aliabad will remain completely closed to vehicular traffic during the processions.
Traffic approaching Lal Darwaza, Charminar, Aliabad, Nagulchinta, Gowlipura, Moghalpura, Mirchowk and Nayapool will be diverted through alternate routes.
Heavy vehicles approaching Chatrinaka from Old Chandrayangutta will also be diverted towards Santoshnagar and Chandrayangutta.
Bonalu Procession Parking Arrangements
The Hyderabad Traffic Police have designated several locations for parking during the celebrations.
Parking facilities have been arranged at:
- Devi Plywood area, Shahlibanda
- Alka Theatre open ground
- Arya Vaishya Mandir
- VDP School Ground
- Mithra Sports Club
- Sree Venkateswara Temple premises
- Phoolbagh Chaman Ground
- Charminar Bus Terminal
Procession vehicles will be parked in a single line at Delhi Gate.
RTC Bus Routes to Be Diverted
RTC buses will not be permitted to proceed towards Charminar, Falaknuma and Nayapul during the restrictions.
Instead, buses will terminate at locations including:
- Old CBS
- Afzalgunj
- Darulshifa X Roads
- Chatrinaka
- Engine Bowli
From these locations, buses will take alternate routes as per the traffic arrangements.
Karwan Bonalu Traffic Diversions
Traffic restrictions will also be implemented for the Darbar Maisamma Bonalu celebrations and elephant procession from Sabji Mandi in Karwan to Nalla Pochamma Temple.
The restrictions will remain in effect from 9 pm on August 8 until the morning of August 10.
Diversions will be implemented around Puranapool, Jiyaguda, Tappachabutra, Karwan and Tallagadda.
Parking for two-wheelers has been arranged at the Government Primary and High School Ground.
Amberpet Bonalu Traffic Restrictions
At Mahankali Temple in Amberpet, traffic diversions will be in force from 6 am on August 9 until noon on August 10.
Vehicles travelling between Uppal, Chaderghat and MGBS will primarily be directed through the Amberpet flyover.
If congestion develops near the flyover or Saldhana Gate, additional diversions will be activated through Mallikarjuna Nagar, D.D. Colony, Shivam Road, Tilaknagar, Ali Café and Nagole Road.
Chilkalguda Bonalu Traffic Diversions
Traffic restrictions will also be imposed around the Katta Maisamma–Pochamma Temple in Chilkalguda from 5 am to 11 pm on August 9 and 10.
Vehicles travelling from Sitaphalmandi Junction towards Chilkalguda X Road will be diverted through Namalagundu and Warasiguda.
Traffic coming from Allugaddabavi and Secunderabad towards Sitaphalmandi will be diverted towards Padmaraonagar.

Commuters travelling through the affected areas have been advised to follow traffic police instructions and use the designated alternate routes and parking facilities.
