Parliament Monsoon Session to Begin on July 20.
The Monsoon Session of Parliament 2026 will commence on July 20 and continue until August 13, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju announced on Saturday. The upcoming session is expected to witness discussions on several important legislative proposals, policy matters, and issues of national significance as both Houses of Parliament reconvene after the break.
The announcement follows the approval of President Droupadi Murmu, who accepted the Central government’s recommendation to summon the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha for the Monsoon Session.
Sharing the update on social media platform X, Rijiju said the session would provide an opportunity for “meaningful debate, discussion and decisions on issues of national importance.”
President Approves Summoning of Both Houses
Confirming the schedule, Kiren Rijiju said the President had formally approved the convening of Parliament.
“The Session will commence on 20 July, 2026 and continue till 13 August, 2026 for meaningful debate, discussion and decisions on issues of national importance,” the Union Minister wrote.

Government Likely to Introduce Key Bills
The Monsoon Session is expected to be packed with legislative business, with the Union government likely to introduce several new Bills while also seeking the passage of pending legislation.
Apart from introducing fresh laws, ministers are expected to table reports, policy papers, and official statements on matters concerning governance, infrastructure, education, health, internal security, the economy, and welfare programmes.
The detailed list of Bills and legislative business is expected to be released by the government closer to the commencement of the session.

The session is also likely to witness intense debates between the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government and opposition parties over a range of political, economic, and social issues.
