Educational institutions are expected to remain affected as left student organisations have called for a shutdown, while separate demonstrations have been announced in Hyderabad and several district headquarters.
The Telangana Braces for Statewide Shutdown movement is expected to witness participation from thousands of students, job aspirants, and political activists demanding action on the NEET-UG controversy and the fulfilment of recruitment promises made by the state government.
Student Organisations Call for Shutdown of Educational Institutions
As Telangana Braces for Statewide Shutdown, several left-backed student organisations have appealed to schools, colleges, and universities across the state to suspend academic activities on Friday.
The protest has been called against the alleged lathi-charge on students during demonstrations in Delhi over the NEET-UG paper leak issue. Student bodies have demanded a transparent inquiry into the incidents and accountability for the police action.
The organisations supporting the shutdown include:

- National Students’ Union of India (NSUI)
- Progressive Democratic Students Union (PDSU)
- All India Forum for Democratic Students (AIFDS)
- All India Democratic Students Organisation (AIDSO)
- All India Students Bloc (AISB)
- All India Progressive Students Union (AIPSU)
Apart from seeking justice for protesting students, these organisations have demanded the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the alleged paper leak. They have also called for the abolition of the National Testing Agency (NTA) and withdrawal of the proposed Viksit Bharat Shiksha Adhishthan Bill, 2025.
K.T. Rama Rao to Join Protest in Hyderabad
As Telangana Braces for Statewide Shutdown, BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) has announced that he will participate in a protest organised by the Bharat Rashtra Samithi Students Wing (BRSV) at Indira Park, Hyderabad, at 10:00 am.
In a post on X, KTR said:
“The voice of India’s youth cannot be crushed through force. I will be joining the BRSV protest tomorrow at 10:00 am at Indira Park, Hyderabad, in solidarity against the brutal crackdown on students and youth in Delhi. I appeal to students, youth and everyone who believes in democracy to join us in standing up for the constitutional right to dissent.”
The BRS has said its protest is intended to express solidarity with students who participated in the recent “Chalo Sansad March” demanding accountability over the alleged NEET-UG paper leak.
Unemployed Youth Announce Statewide Bandh
While Telangana Braces for Statewide Shutdown, unemployed youth organisations have also announced a statewide bandh demanding that the Telangana government fulfil its Assembly election promises related to government recruitment.
The groups have urged the government to immediately notify recruitment for two lakh vacancies, alleging delays in filling vacant posts despite earlier assurances.
According to the organisers, the protest aims to highlight the concerns of lakhs of job aspirants waiting for recruitment notifications across various government departments.
Police Job Aspirants Raise Recruitment Issues
The Police Job Aspirants’ Joint Action Committee (JAC) has also extended support as Telangana Braces for Statewide Shutdown.
The JAC has demanded the withdrawal of GO No. 46, an increase in police recruitment vacancies, and greater transparency in the recruitment process.
Representatives of the aspirants said eligible candidates deserve a fair and transparent selection process, and they urged the government to expedite recruitment.
Security Arrangements Across Telangana
With Telangana Braces for Statewide Shutdown, authorities are expected to deploy additional police personnel across Hyderabad and other districts to maintain law and order during the protests.
Traffic diversions and congestion are likely in areas where demonstrations and rallies are scheduled, particularly around Indira Park, government offices, educational institutions, and major road junctions.
Students and commuters have been advised to check local traffic updates before travelling.
