In a significant move aimed at protecting the rights and welfare of domestic workers, Telangana Labour and Employment Minister Dr. Vivek Venkatswamy announced that the state government will soon introduce the Telangana Domestic Workers Welfare Act. The proposed legislation is expected to provide social security benefits, dignified wages, and safe working conditions for thousands of domestic workers across the state.
The announcement was made on Tuesday, June 16, during a programme organized to mark International Domestic Workers Day. Addressing the gathering, the minister emphasized that domestic workers play a vital role in supporting households and society, yet their contributions often remain unrecognized.
