Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani passed away on Sunday, July 13, at the age of 74. According to an official statement issued by the General Administration (Political-B) Department, all government departments, district administrations, and public offices were instructed to observe the state mourning. The communication was sent to senior government officials, Heads of Departments, District Collectors, Commissioners of Police, and Superintendents of Police for immediate implementation. Sheikh Hamad served as the Emir of Qatar from 1995 to 2013 before voluntarily abdicating in favour of his son, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, who currently serves as the Emir of Qatar. During his tenure, Sheikh Hamad played a transformative role in reshaping Qatar’s economy and global standing. Under his leadership, the Gulf nation emerged as one of the world’s leading exporters of liquefied natural gas and significantly expanded its diplomatic, economic, and international influence.
