Vahan-Sarathi Portal Glitch Disrupts Transport Services Across Telangana; Vehicle Owners Stranded at RTOs
A major technical disruption in the Vahan-Sarathi transport software has severely affected vehicle registration and transport-related services across Telangana, leaving thousands of vehicle owners stranded and triggering chaos at Regional Transport Offices (RTOs).
The issue, which reportedly began on Monday, June 15, has brought multiple transport services to a complete standstill across the state.
Transport Services Come to a Halt
According to vehicle owners and transport operators, the Sarathi software system has remained non-functional since Monday. Due to the outage, key services such as new vehicle registrations, payment of traffic fines, permit processing, and release of seized vehicles have been suspended.
As the technical issue continued into Tuesday, RTO offices witnessed heavy rush, with citizens arriving early in hopes of completing pending work. Frustration at RTO Offices
The sudden disruption led to widespread inconvenience, with several vehicle owners expressing anger over the lack of clear communication from the transport department.
In some RTOs, tense situations were reported as motorists engaged in heated exchanges with officials, demanding immediate restoration of services or alternative arrangements.
Officials, however, maintained that the issue was linked to the central software system and could not be resolved at the local level.
Impact on Farmers and Rural Transport
The outage has had a significant impact in rural areas of Telangana, where agricultural activities are currently underway.
Farmers and transport operators using tractors, trailers, auto-loaders, and goods carriers said their vehicles could not be released due to pending digital processing. This has disrupted the movement of agricultural produce and essential goods, leading to operational delays and financial losses.
Vehicle owners have urged the government to prioritize the release of agricultural and goods transport vehicles, especially during the peak farming season.

As of Tuesday afternoon, transport authorities have not issued an official statement explaining the exact cause of the technical glitch or providing a timeline for restoration of services.
