Youth Stage Protest in Dilsukhnagar once again as hundreds of police job aspirants took to the streets on Thursday, July 16, demanding that the Telangana government issue 20,000 police recruitment notifications instead of the reported proposal to fill only 5,000 vacancies. The protest highlighted the growing frustration among unemployed youth who have been preparing for police recruitment examinations for several years.
The demonstration, held in one of Hyderabad’s busiest commercial areas, witnessed aspirants carrying placards, raising slogans, and demanding immediate action from the state government. Police later intervened and detained several protesters, who were seen being escorted into police vehicles.
Aspirants Demand 20,000 Police Recruitment Notifications
The protesters argued that issuing only 5,000 job notifications would not be sufficient when thousands of vacancies reportedly exist across various departments. They said lakhs of candidates have invested years preparing for competitive examinations and deserve a larger recruitment drive.

Many participants expressed concern that uncertainty over recruitment has left aspiring police personnel anxious about their future careers.
Demand for Age Relaxation
Apart from increasing the number of vacancies, the protesters demanded that the government enhance the upper age limit for recruitment to 36 years.
According to the aspirants, repeated delays in issuing recruitment notifications have caused many candidates to cross the existing age eligibility limit despite spending years preparing for the examinations.
They argued that providing additional age relaxation would ensure fairness for candidates whose opportunities have been affected by delays beyond their control.

Protesters Detained by Police
Videos circulating on social media showed dozens of job aspirants marching through the streets of Dilsukhnagar with banners and placards demanding justice.
The protesters raised slogans calling for immediate recruitment and appealed to the government to fulfil its promises regarding police employment.
Police personnel later stepped in to disperse the gathering, and several protesters were detained and shifted in police vehicles to maintain law and order.
Despite the detentions, the demonstrators maintained that their movement would continue until the government announced a larger recruitment drive.
K.T. Rama Rao Urges Government to Act
The issue has also drawn political attention. On July 3, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Working President K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) wrote an open letter to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, urging the state government to release 20,000 police job notifications.
In his letter, KTR stated that many police job aspirants come from rural backgrounds and spend years living in hostels in Hyderabad while preparing for competitive examinations.
He criticised the reported plan to notify only 5,000 vacancies, saying it would disappoint nearly 15 lakh police job aspirants across Telangana.
Quoting information obtained through the Right to Information (RTI) Act, KTR claimed that nearly 17,000 police posts remain vacant in the state and recalled earlier assurances to fill around 12,000 vacancies.
Recruitment Notifications Still Awaited; Youth Stage Protest in Dilsukhnagar Demanding 20,000 Police Jobs
According to the Telangana State Level Police Recruitment Board, there are currently 7,437 vacancies across the Police Department, Fire Disaster Response, Emergency and Civil Defence Department, Prisons and Correctional Services Department, and the Special Protection Force.
However, official recruitment notifications for these posts are yet to be issued, leading to growing uncertainty among job seekers.
As Youth Stage Protest in Dilsukhnagar continued, aspirants urged the Telangana government to immediately announce recruitment notifications, increase the number of vacancies, and provide age relaxation for eligible candidates. The protesters said these measures would offer hope to thousands of unemployed youth who have been preparing for government jobs for years while waiting for an official recruitment process to begin.
