Ajith Reddy Appointed as Hyderabad Metro’s Additional Managing Director
The Telangana government has appointed B. Ajith Reddy as the Additional Managing Director (Addl. MD) of Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL). He will hold this position as an additional responsibility while continuing to serve as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Invest Telangana under the Industries & Commerce Department.
The appointment was announced through an official order issued by Telangana Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishnan Rao on Saturday, June 27. Ajith Reddy Appointed as Hyderabad Metro’s Additional Managing Director
Ajith Reddy is a 2012-batch officer of the Indian Defence Estates Service (IDES) and has been serving in key administrative roles within the Telangana government. His appointment is expected to strengthen the management of Hyderabad Metro as the project enters an important phase of expansion and development.
Hyderabad Metro Leadership
The appointment comes months after Sarfaraz Ahmad took charge as the Managing Director of Hyderabad Metro Rail Ltd. on September 16, 2025, succeeding NVS Reddy, who had played a significant role in the development of the metro project. Focus on Metro Expansion
The latest appointment coincides with the Telangana government’s efforts to accelerate the expansion of Hyderabad Metro. During a meeting held on June 23 between Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, SBICAPS was appointed as the consultant to conduct a comprehensive valuation study of Hyderabad Metro Phase-I and prepare plans for the Phase-II expansion.
The study is expected to play a crucial role in determining the future roadmap for the city’s metro network, including financial planning and expansion strategies.
With Ajith Reddy taking on the additional responsibility, Hyderabad Metro is expected to receive further administrative support as it moves ahead with its expansion plans aimed at improving urban transportation across the city.
