Ameenpur Police Book Suspended Jubilee Hills CI for Alleged Rape

The Ameenpur police have booked suspended Jubilee Hills Circle Inspector U. Srinivasulu Reddy for allegedly raping a woman and threatening her, based on a complaint filed by the woman in Hyderabad.
According to the police, Reddy was booked on Friday, August 7, under charges including rape, culpable homicide and relevant provisions of the IT Act. The case was registered following a complaint by a woman residing in Jayalakshmi Nagar under the Ameenpur police limits.
Hyderabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar suspended Reddy on July 28 after authorities learned about the woman’s allegations. A departmental inquiry was conducted, while a separate criminal investigation into the allegations is underway.
Woman Approached CI in 2021
According to the woman’s complaint submitted to the Director General of Police (DGP), she first approached Reddy in December 2021 when he was serving as the Station House Officer (SHO) of Ameenpur Police Station.
She had reportedly sought his assistance over family-related problems. The woman alleged that Reddy helped resolve the issue and subsequently began calling and messaging her, initially claiming that he wanted to check on her well-being.
After a few months, she alleged, Reddy expressed interest in her and asked to meet her personally. She further alleged that he threatened her and pressured her to enter into a relationship with him.
According to her complaint, she was sexually abused on several occasions over a period of time.
Police Probe Into Alleged Relationship and Threats
Police officials said their inquiry found that Reddy had established physical relations with the woman and that the two had stayed together for several days.
The police further alleged that Reddy subsequently attempted to distance himself from the woman. He is also accused of threatening to leak private photographs and videos in order to defame her if she disclosed the alleged relationship and abuse.
The woman also alleged that Reddy demanded and obtained money from her on several occasions through online payments.
Jubilee Hills CI Suspended
Following the complaint, Hyderabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar suspended Reddy on July 28. The suspension came after the allegations were brought to the police department’s attention and an internal inquiry was initiated.
The criminal case was subsequently registered by the Ameenpur police. Investigators are now examining the allegations, digital evidence and other relevant material as part of the probe.
The police investigation is continuing, and further action will depend on the findings of the investigation.
