Auto Driver Hacked to Death in Public in Hyderabad’s Saidabad, Neighbour Absconding
In a shocking incident that has sparked concern over public safety, an auto driver hacked to death in Saidabad was killed in broad daylight on Tuesday, August 4, allegedly following a financial dispute. The gruesome attack took place in Singareni Colony, leaving residents stunned as the victim was assaulted in full public view.
The deceased has been identified as Ameer (35), an auto-rickshaw driver. Police said the accused, Suman, who is also an auto driver and the victim’s neighbour, fled the scene after the attack and is currently absconding.
Financial Dispute Suspected Behind the Murder
According to preliminary information, the auto driver hacked to death in Saidabad was allegedly attacked over a financial dispute between the two neighbours.
Eyewitnesses said Ameer was assaulted with a sickle in the middle of the road. He sustained severe injuries and collapsed at the scene before local residents alerted the police and emergency services.
The injured man was rushed to Osmania General Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
Police are investigating the exact sequence of events and the motive behind the murder.
Disturbing Video of the Attack Emerges
A video of the incident, which has surfaced on social media, reportedly shows Ameer lying on the ground in a pool of blood while the accused repeatedly attacks him with a sickle.
The footage also shows a crowd gathered at the scene, with people crying and shouting in panic. However, no one is seen intervening during the assault.
Authorities have urged the public to avoid sharing such graphic videos on social media, as they can cause distress and interfere with ongoing investigations.
Accused Absconding, Police Launch Manhunt
Police identified the accused as Suman, a resident of the same locality and a neighbour of the victim.
After the attack, the accused fled the scene. Police have launched a search operation to trace and arrest him.
A case has been registered at Saidabad Police Station, and further investigation is underway.
Officials are collecting witness statements and reviewing available evidence, including CCTV footage from the surrounding area, to establish the circumstances leading to the crime.
MLA Demands Speedy Investigation
Reacting to the incident, Yakutpura MLA Jaffar Hussain Meraj expressed concern over the rise in violent crimes and called for swift action against the accused.
Speaking to reporters, he described the murder as “barbaric” and highlighted the impact on the victim’s family.
“This incident is completely barbaric. Ameer has eight children. Now who will take care of them?” he said.
The MLA urged the police to ensure a speedy investigation and bring the accused to justice at the earliest.
Investigation Continues
Police are continuing their investigation to determine the precise circumstances that led to the murder. Officials have not ruled out additional legal action as more evidence emerges.
