In a significant diplomatic and symbolic move, Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy is set to inaugurate the newly named ‘Donald Trump Avenue’ near the US Consulate in Hyderabad on June 23. The event is expected to highlight growing India–US relations and Hyderabad’s rising global prominence.

US Diplomatic Presence Expected at Event

According to official sources, US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor is likely to attend the inauguration ceremony. The event is also expected to include special arrangements ahead of US Independence Day celebrations on July 4, adding a cultural and diplomatic dimension to the occasion.

Decision to Honor Global Leaders

The naming of the road after former US President Donald Trump was first proposed by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy in December. The decision aligns with Telangana’s broader initiative to honour global leaders and multinational corporations that have contributed to Hyderabad’s transformation into a global IT and innovation hub.

The government has also been working on naming roads after major technology companies such as Google and Microsoft, aiming to position Telangana as a symbol of innovation-driven development.

Strengthening Hyderabad–US Economic Ties

The initiative is expected to draw international attention, as Hyderabad continues to strengthen its business and diplomatic ties with the United States. The city has become a key destination for investments, job creation, and technology partnerships.

The Telangana government has emphasized that the growing presence of Global Capability Centres (GCCs) reflects the city’s strategic importance in the global economy.

Major US Companies Expanding in Hyderabad

Several leading US-based companies have either established or announced GCCs in Hyderabad in recent years. These include:

  • Costco Wholesale
  • Eli Lilly
  • HCA Healthcare
  • McDonald’s
  • Nationwide
  • Vanguard
  • US Bancorp
  • T-Mobile
  • LPL Financial
  • Regeneron Pharmaceuticals

These firms are contributing significantly to Hyderabad’s IT and services ecosystem.

Hyderabad Emerging as BFSI GCC Hub

According to the Nasscom GCC Landscape Report 2026, Hyderabad has emerged as a preferred destination for new GCC units, especially in the Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance (BFSI) sector. The report highlights that 50% of new BFSI GCCs in India in 2025 chose Hyderabad, driven by its strong financial services talent pool.

Strategic Push for Global Positioning

Officials note that the Telangana government’s broader strategy is aimed at positioning Hyderabad as a global investment and innovation hub, with deeper international collaborations expected in the coming years. – CM Revanth Reddy to Inaugurate ‘Donald Trump Avenue’ Near US Consulate in Hyderabad on June 23
