KBR Park one-way traffic from August 18: Hyderabad traffic curbs to last 1.5 years
Traffic restrictions introduced around KBR Park for H-CITI flyover and underpass works
The KBR Park one-way traffic system will come into force from August 18, with the Hyderabad Traffic Police announcing several traffic diversions and restrictions around Kasu Brahmananda Reddy National Park (KBR Park).
The traffic advisory will remain in effect for around 1.5 years due to ongoing construction works under the Hyderabad City Innovative and Transformative Infrastructure (H-CITI) Project.
The restrictions are being introduced to facilitate the construction of seven flyovers and underpasses around KBR Park. Traffic police have advised commuters to follow the designated routes to avoid congestion and delays.
KBR Park one-way traffic: Route changes
NFCL to Road No. 45, IT Corridor and Cable Bridge
There will be no direct right turn at NTR Bhavan. Commuters travelling from NFCL must turn left towards KBR Park.
They can then use either the left or right lane to proceed towards Road No. 45 or take the route through Journalist Colony.
KBR Checkpost to NFCL, Panjagutta and Begumpet
Commuters can use both lanes from the KBR Checkpost.
Those travelling towards NFCL, Panjagutta and Begumpet must shift to Lane 1, the leftmost lane, through the newly opened median near the Gymkhana Club.
They can then take a free left turn at NTR Bhavan.
KBR Checkpost to Road No. 10, Road No. 12 and Cancer Hospital
Commuters travelling towards Road No. 10 can shift to the left lane through the median opening near Study Circle.
Those heading towards Road No. 12 can move to the left after crossing the Cancer Hospital.
NFCL to Road No. 36
The right turn towards NTR Bhavan will remain closed.
As an alternative, commuters can turn right at the Srinagar Colony T-Junction and proceed via Indiranagar Gadda, Venkatagiri Cross Roads and Road No. 10, Jubilee Hills (Diamond House).
They can then take a right turn at the newly opened median near Alcazar Plaza.
Film Nagar access restricted in the evening
Commuters travelling to Film Nagar will not be allowed to turn right from Road No. 45 during evening hours.
Traffic police have advised motorists to use Road No. 51 and Road No. 52 as alternative routes to reach Film Nagar.
KBR Park traffic restrictions to continue for 1.5 years
Briefing the media, Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) D Joel Davis said foundation and pillar work had already begun for 17 pillars along Road No. 2 in Banjara Hills and on the stretch between KBR Park and the Checkpost.
He said traffic disruption had so far been relatively minimal on the stretches where the work had begun.
“Around 110 more pillars, along with underpasses, are yet to be constructed,” the senior officer said.
According to the traffic police, construction is expected to continue for around 1.5 years. During this period, the available carriageway could be reduced by 30 to 40 per cent at several locations.
Commuters using roads around KBR Park have been advised to plan their journeys in advance and follow traffic police instructions and diversion routes during the construction period.
