Musi Project Eviction Notices Trigger Protest in Bandlaguda Jagir
Eviction notices issued to residents living along the Musi Riverbed have triggered protests in Bandlaguda Jagir, with affected apartment owners demanding rehabilitation and clarity on compensation before they vacate their homes.
The notices were reportedly issued by the Rajendranagar Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO) to residents of Madhu Park Ridge Apartment as part of the Telangana government’s Musi River rejuvenation project.
Residents have opposed the eviction and said they will not vacate the apartment until the government provides an appropriate rehabilitation facility and addresses their concerns regarding land acquisition and compensation. Musi Project Eviction Notices Trigger Protest in Bandlaguda Jagir.
Residents Seek Rehabilitation Before Eviction
The Madhu Park Ridge residents have raised concerns over the proposed acquisition of their property and the lack of clarity regarding compensation.
According to a report published by Deccan Chronicle, residents had earlier approached the Telangana High Court challenging the land acquisition proceedings. They reportedly alleged that the revenue authorities had not provided sufficient clarity on the compensation process. Musi Project Eviction Notices Trigger Protest in Bandlaguda Jagir
A land acquisition notice issued in February 2026 stated that 6.34 acres of land under Survey No. 89 would be acquired for the Musi River rejuvenation project.
Following the notice, residents submitted individual objections in March 2026, expecting the authorities to consider and respond to their concerns before proceeding further.
Residents Question Hearing Process
Residents have also raised objections over the manner in which their concerns were addressed during proceedings before revenue officials.
Anita, a resident of Madhu Park Ridge, was quoted by Deccan Chronicle as saying that officials discussed compensation under different award categories instead of addressing the objections submitted by residents.
“Instead of discussing the objections we had given, he was talking about Award I and Award II and said that they would pay compensation.”
She also alleged that residents were asked to appear before revenue officials at short notice. According to her, the residents requested a week’s time to prepare for the hearing.
The residents maintain that their objections should be properly examined before any eviction or acquisition-related action is taken. Musi Project Eviction Notices Trigger Protest in Bandlaguda Jagir.
Musi River Rejuvenation Project
The proposed action is linked to the Telangana government’s broader Musi River rejuvenation project, which aims to improve the river corridor and address issues associated with encroachments and development along the riverbed.
However, the project has also raised concerns among residents and property owners who could be affected by land acquisition and eviction measures.
For the residents of Madhu Park Ridge, the immediate demand is for a clear rehabilitation plan and transparency regarding compensation before they are required to leave their homes.
The protest in Bandlaguda Jagir highlights the challenges authorities may face in implementing the Musi River project while addressing the concerns of residents affected by land acquisition and eviction proceedings.
