NEET Candidate Caught Using Mobile Phone Inside Exam Centre Washroom in Hyderabad
An 18-year-old NEET aspirant was allegedly caught red-handed using a mobile phone inside the washroom of an examination centre in Hyderabad during the NEET re-examination held on Sunday, June 21.
The incident occurred at a Zila Parishad High School (ZPHS) examination centre located in Ragannaguda under the limits of Adibatla Police Station.
Candidate Allegedly Hid Phone Before Exam
According to Hyderabad Police, the student, a resident of Achampet, reportedly arrived at the examination centre around 7:00 AM and secretly placed his mobile phone in the washroom ventilator before the examination began.
Police said that approximately two hours later, the candidate entered the washroom and concealed the phone in a zip-lock cover before hiding it inside a flush tank.

While appearing for the examination, the candidate allegedly complained of stomach pain and requested permission to use the washroom.
However, when the invigilator noticed that the student was spending an unusually long time inside the restroom, suspicion arose. Examination staff immediately conducted a check and reportedly caught the candidate using the mobile phone.
The device was confiscated on the spot, and the student was handed over to Hyderabad Police for further investigation.
Phone Used to Search for Answers; NEET Candidate Caught Using Mobile Phone Inside Exam Centre Washroom in Hyderabad
A preliminary examination of the confiscated device revealed that the candidate had allegedly been using Google Chrome to search for answers during the examination.
According to police, no other suspicious applications were found active on the phone apart from Instagram.
Case Registered
Authorities have registered a case against the student under:
- Section 318(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS)
- Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act
Further investigation is currently underway.
NEET Re-Examination Conducted Across India
The NEET UG re-examination was conducted across 5,440 centres in India and 14 centres abroad. More than 20 lakh medical aspirants appeared for the examination.
The re-test was organized following the cancellation of the earlier examination amid allegations of question paper leaks, a controversy that sparked nationwide protests and intense political debate.
The examination was conducted in 13 languages, including English and Hindi.
