Telangana CM Revanth Reddy Vows No Delays in Fee Reimbursement
Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Tuesday assured that there would be no delays in the state’s tuition fee reimbursement scheme, saying the government is working to ensure reimbursements are cleared within the same financial year.
The Chief Minister made the remarks while speaking to the media after meeting Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. His statement came in response to criticism from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over pending tuition fee reimbursement dues in Telangana.
Government Plans Timely Fee Reimbursement
Revanth Reddy said the state requires Rs 2,200 crore to Rs 2,400 crore annually to implement the tuition fee reimbursement scheme and that the government is preparing a financial plan to ensure payments are made on time. Telangana CM Revanth Reddy Vows No Delays in Fee Reimbursement
He said the objective is to eliminate the backlog of pending dues and prevent delays in future reimbursements.
The Chief Minister also revealed that the state’s vigilance wing is investigating educational institutions that allegedly attempted to illegally claim reimbursement funds in previous years.
CM Blames Previous BRS Government
The Chief Minister alleged that when the previous Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) government left office in December 2023, it had left behind pending fee reimbursement dues amounting to nearly Rs 8,000 crore.

Responding to criticism from BJP Rajya Sabha MP R. Krishnaiah and Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao, Revanth Reddy urged them to also speak about the pending reimbursement dues in neighbouring Andhra Pradesh, where the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is in power.
BJP Demands Revanth Give Up Education Portfolio
Earlier, on July 26, Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao demanded that Revanth Reddy relinquish the education portfolio if his government failed to clear the pending tuition fee reimbursement dues.
The BJP leader claimed that dues under the scheme had reached Rs 12,000 crore, alleging that many educational institutions had withheld students’ certificates because of unpaid government reimbursements.
Referring to the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Rao said the BJP had demonstrated accountability and argued that the Chief Minister should also take moral responsibility for the pending dues. Telangana CM Revanth Reddy Vows No Delays in Fee Reimbursement
“You do not speak about the students whose certificates are being withheld due to pending reimbursements and instead organise candlelight rallies,” Rao said while addressing reporters in Hyderabad.
