Saidabad Ganesh Pandal Tension After Chicken Waste Found Nearby; 3 Detained
Tension prevailed in Saidabad‘s Madannapet area on Sunday, September 20, after a piece of chicken and non-vegetarian food waste was found near a Ganesh pandal, prompting a police deployment and protest by BJP workers and members of other organisations.
The incident occurred during a Ganesh Chaturthi food distribution programme in the area. Police rushed additional personnel to the spot after the discovery led to a commotion.
Saidabad Ganesh Pandal Incident Triggers Protest
According to police, a piece of chicken was found outside a Ganesh temple near the pandal. A Madannapet police sub-inspector told that someone had left the chicken piece outside the temple the previous night, leading to a commotion in the area.
Local residents suspected that the waste had been discarded from a nearby residential building. BJP workers and members of other organisations gathered at the location and protested, alleging that the act was deliberate. Police assured the protesters that the matter would be investigated and appropriate action taken.
Three People Detained for Questioning
Police subsequently detained three residents of a nearby Double Bedroom housing complex for questioning in connection with the incident.
The three were identified in reports as Mohammed Imran Qureshi, Arshiya Begum and Sameena. Police are investigating whether the waste was deliberately discarded near the Ganesh pandal and are examining the circumstances surrounding the incident.
At this stage, the circumstances and intent behind the disposal have not been conclusively established.
Police Deploy Additional Force in Madannapet
Following the incident, additional police personnel were deployed in the area to prevent any escalation.
A report by Telangana Today said the protesters called off their agitation after police assured them that a case would be registered and action would be taken against those responsible.
By Sunday evening, the situation was reported to be under control and the area remained peaceful. Police said the investigation was underway.
