Four of Family Killed in Hyderabad Accident After Ganesh Immersion in Mahbubnagar
Four members of a family were killed in a road accident in Rangareddy district early Sunday, September 20, after returning to Hyderabad following Ganesh immersion celebrations in Mahbubnagar.
The accident occurred around 1:45 am near Palamakula in Shamshabad, when the car carrying the family reportedly went off the road and crashed into an under-construction culvert.
Four Killed in Shamshabad Road Accident
The deceased were identified as Kethavath Limbya, 54, his wife Yamuna, 45, Katravath Mansingh, 48, and Ketavath Vasram, 45.
According to police, Mansingh and Vasram were relatives of Limbya and were associated with the brick business.
The family members were returning from Nawabpet in Mahbubnagar district, where they had travelled to participate in Ganesh immersion celebrations in their native village.
Police said the group hired a car after completing the immersion ceremony and began their journey towards Shamshabad.
Car Crashes Into Under-Construction Culvert
According to police, the driver, identified as Ashok, lost control of the vehicle near Palamakula. The car reportedly veered off the road before crashing into the under-construction culvert.
The collision was severe, and the four passengers died at the scene.
The front portion of the car was completely mangled in the crash. Police said the deployment of the two front airbags is believed to have helped the driver survive.
Ashok sustained grievous injuries and was shifted to a hospital for treatment.
Victims Were From Mahbubnagar, Family Lived in Shamshabad
Police said the deceased hailed from Nawabpet in Mahbubnagar district. Limbya and his family were residing in Madhura Nagar, Shamshabad.
The family had travelled to their native village to participate in the Ganesh immersion, which was being conducted there. After the celebrations concluded, they hired a car to return to Shamshabad.
The accident took place while they were travelling near Palamakula.
Driver’s Blood Samples Collected
Police collected the driver’s blood samples to determine whether drunk driving was involved in the accident.
A case has been registered under Section 106 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for allegedly causing death due to negligence. Further investigation is underway.
