Telangana SIR Revised Again after the Election Commission of India (ECI) extended the deadline for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in the state. Under the revised schedule, house-to-house voter enumeration by Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will now continue until August 10.
This is the second revision to the SIR schedule. Earlier, the enumeration process had been extended from the original deadline of July 24 to August 3.
House-to-House Enumeration Extended to August 10
As part of the Telangana SIR Revised Again schedule, Booth Level Officers will continue visiting households across the state to verify voter details and update the electoral rolls.
The Election Commission has also extended the timeline for the rationalisation and reorganisation of polling stations, which will now be completed by August 10.
The move is aimed at ensuring that all eligible voters are properly included in the electoral rolls before the publication of the draft list.
Draft Electoral Rolls to Be Published on August 17
Under the revised election schedule, the draft electoral rolls will now be published on August 17, instead of the earlier planned date of August 10.
Following the publication of the draft rolls, voters will be able to submit claims and objections regarding voter details until September 16.
The Telangana SIR Revised Again notification also states that all objections and claims must be disposed of by October 15.
Final Electoral Rolls to Be Released on October 19
According to the updated schedule issued by the Election Commission, the final electoral rolls for Telangana will be published on October 19.
The revised timeline is as follows:
- House-to-house enumeration: Till August 10
- Polling station rationalisation: Till August 10
- Draft electoral rolls publication: August 17
- Claims and objections period: August 17 to September 16
- Disposal of objections: By October 15
- Final electoral rolls publication: October 19
The Telangana SIR Revised Again schedule gives election officials additional time to complete verification and ensure greater accuracy in the state’s voter database.
Earlier Schedule
Before the latest revision, the Election Commission had planned to:
- Complete house-to-house enumeration by August 3
- Publish the draft electoral rolls on August 10
- Accept objections until September 9
- Dispose of objections by October 8
- Publish the final electoral rolls on October 12
However, with the Telangana SIR Revised Again announcement, all these dates have now been pushed back by approximately one week.
Aim Is to Ensure Accurate Voter Lists
The Election Commission’s decision to revise the schedule is expected to provide Booth Level Officers with additional time to complete field verification and ensure that eligible voters are correctly included in the electoral rolls.
The Telangana SIR Revised Again exercise is a key step in preparing updated and error-free voter lists ahead of future elections in the state.
