Godavari River Reaches 48 Feet at Bhadrachalam, Second Danger Warning Issued
The Godavari River Reaches 48 Feet at Bhadrachalam in Bhadradri Kothagudem district, prompting authorities to issue a second danger warning on Friday, July 31. Officials have stepped up flood monitoring and urged residents in low-lying areas to move to safer locations as the river continues to swell.
The second warning was issued at 3:48 pm after the river level touched 48 feet, while the first danger warning had already been issued earlier at 10:14 am when the water level crossed 43 feet.
Officials Review Flood Situation
As the Godavari River Reaches 48 Feet, District Collector Ankit inspected flood-affected areas along with Superintendent of Police Rohit Raju and Bhadrachalam Sub-Collector Mrinal Shrestha.
The officials visited key locations including:
- Vista Complex
- Karakatta
- Godavari Bathing Ghats
- Bhadrachalam Main Road
During the inspection, the Collector directed officials to maintain continuous surveillance in vulnerable areas and strictly prevent people from entering the river.
Third Danger Warning May Be Issued
Authorities said a flood discharge of 11,44,645 cusecs has been recorded in the Godavari.
With the Godavari River Reaches 48 Feet, officials warned that a third danger warning would be issued if the river level rises to 53 feet.
The district administration is closely monitoring the situation as inflows continue due to heavy rainfall in the river’s catchment areas.
Residents Shifted to Rehabilitation Centres
Following the flood warning, the District Collector appealed to residents living in low-lying areas to immediately move to designated rehabilitation centres.
Authorities said the relief camps have been equipped with:
- Drinking water
- Food
- Electricity
- Medical facilities
- Sanitation services
The administration has assured that all essential services are available for displaced families until floodwaters recede.

33 Sand Workers Rescued
Earlier in the day, 33 sand labourers working for the Telangana State Mineral Development Corporation (TGMDC) were stranded at a sand excavation ramp near Veerapuram village in Charla mandal after the Godavari water level rose suddenly.
According to Charla Station House Officer A. Raju Verma, lorries from Warangal and Hyderabad had reached the site during the night, and excavation work began between 2:30 am and 3:00 am.
The workers remained stranded for nearly an hour before rescue teams safely evacuated them.

As the Godavari River Reaches 48 Feet, district officials remain on high alert and continue monitoring water levels round the clock.
With the possibility of the river rising further, authorities have urged the public to avoid unnecessary travel in flood-prone areas and cooperate with evacuation measures to ensure public safety.
